ONLINE smartphone photography, reels and carousels workshops

This is the workshop to take if you want to learn how to do better Reels and carousel posts on Insta, how to show up in your feed in a way you feel good about and how to get into a rhythm of posting consistently and well.

It’s an extended, online version of the workshop I’ve been running in Orange.

I’ve broken it up into four one-hour live (also recorded) sessions with prompts and guidance to shoot and practice in between each one. And because our groups are small (capped at 15) we can workshop what you create together.

There’ll also be a WhatsApp chat for your group which is a great way to share ideas for feedback, ask for support, collaborate and connect with each other.

Group 1: starts Wednesday 5 August → sessions 5, 12, 19, 26 August always 12.30-1.30pm

Group 2: starts Wednesday 9 September → sessions 9, 16, 23, 30 September 12.30-1.30pm

Session 1 · Smartphone photography basics, showing up and different shot and video styles
Camera settings, light, composition, and the different styles of photos and videos to practise (and why). How to show up in your feed without feeling sick about it and guidance for what and how to shoot in the week leading up to our next session.

Session 2 · Getting started with Reels and the Edits App
Today we’ll build two different styles of Reels live, on screen, together. Then we take the exact same footage and turn it into a carousel. You will also start your style guide (fonts, colours, edits and tone of voice), so everything you post always looks and sounds like you.

Session 3 · Montage stories and advanced editing
Five clips become a proper story, in two formats. A montage Reel, and a carousel telling the same story slide by slide. Plus overlays, masking and reading your insights.

Session 4 · Content planning, sharing and feedback
We create a content plan that’s sustainable and exciting, cover captions and best practice for sharing. Then trouble shooting, question time and a chance to share what everyone has made.

Who this is for;
Busy small business owners, producers, makers, cooks, hosts, shop owners, consultants, artists, anyone with a story to tell; and anyone looking to build confidence and skills in a convenient, friendly environment.

You do not need to be tech savvy. You do not need existing followers. You do not need to have ever posted a Reel before in your life.

Or perhaps you’ve been posting and creating Reels and carousels for a while now but are a bit stuck and want to polish your skills and confidence and get some new ideas and inspiration.

You need your phone, an hour a week, and a willingness to hit record.
Like anything, you’ll get out of this course what you put in to it For four hours over four Zoom sessions and with follow-up notes and recording prompts in between, I will do everything I can to give you the skills and confidence to go forth, find your style, and create content that tells your story and connects with and grows your audience. The rest is up to you!
