A Day for Food Writers & Recipe Creators, April 10 2026 | April 10
This Autumn, on 10 April, Emiko Davies and I are hosting a workshop at the Old Convent in Borenore, near Orange.
It's a chance to spend the day with like-minded people, learning and sharing around food, recipes, and the stories we tell through cooking.
We'll start the morning cooking and capturing the process as we go - photography (phone cameras or 'big ones' fine - whatever you use!) video, and processes, the steps, details and moments that bring the story of a recipe to life.
After lunch (by our host, the Old Convent’s Josie Chapman), shift to food writing and cover finding your voice, shaping headnotes, structuring recipes, and the practical side of pitching your work to publishers or magazines.
This is a working day - you'll leave with photos on your camera roll and words on your laptop that you can go on and use, refine, and build into something. Between us, we've written 12 cookbooks (Emiko 7, me 5 and both, with another in the works), and we'd love to share what we've learned along the way.
This workshop is for food writers, recipe developers, content creators, or anyone building a world around their recipes or food products. Small group, hands-on, and set in one of my most favourite places in Orange. We hope you will go away inspired, with new connections and ideas and confidence to go forth and write and share your food stories in your own amazing way.
We'll end the day with a glass or two of local sparkling wine, a grazing platter and a chance to chat more about the day.
Date: Friday 10 April, 10-4pm
Cost: $550 (includes full-day workshop, morning tea, lunch and bubbles to finish)
Where: The Old Convent, Borenore
Please get in touch if you'd like to join us, spaces are limited.
